The false-color infrared image shows more densely vegetated areas as brighter red tones. When compared with the glacial geology map, the older Sagavanirktok-age glacial landscapes have few lakes and redder tones indicating more dense vegetation, and the younger Itkillik-age glacial surfaces that have more lakes and grayer colors.

This image is at 20-m resolution, and includes SPOT bands 1 (green, 0.50 – 0.59 µm), 2 (red, 0.61 - 0.68 µm), and 3 (near infrared, 0.78 - 0.89 µm).

Back to [Upper Kuparuk River Region](/catalogs/9704-upper-kuparuk-river-region-vegetation-in-the-v)

**Map Themes:**
[Elevation](/catalogs/11621-upper-kuparuk-river-region-elevation), [Glacial Geology](/catalogs/11619-upper-kuparuk-glacial-geology), [Hydrology](/catalogs/11622-upper-kuparuk-river-region-hydrology), [Landform](/catalogs/9705-upper-kuparuk-river-region-landform), [Landsat NDVI trend 1985-2007](/catalogs/11623-upper-kuparuk-river-region-ndvi-trend-1985-2007), [SPOT false-color infrared (CIR)](/catalogs/11634-upper-kuparuk-river-region-spot-cir), [SPOT NDVI](/catalogs/11624-upper-kuparuk-river-region-spot-ndvi), [Surficial Geology](/catalogs/9706-upper-kuparuk-river-region-surficial-geology), [Surficial Geomorphology](/catalogs/9707-upper-kuparuk-river-region-surficial-geomorphology), [Vegetation](/catalogs/11620-upper-kuparuk-river-region-vegetation-walker)

**References**

Shippert, M.
