Cook Inlet Basin Study Unit – Lakes

nawqa_lakes is a polygon coverage of lakes greater than 20 acres that are located in the Cook Inlet National Water-Quality Assessment (NAWQA) study unit. The Cook Inlet Basin is located in southcentral Alaska. The coverage was created using 1:2,000,000 digital line graphs (DLGs). This coverage, along with other coverages of the Cook Inlet Basin, will be used to determine water-quality sampling locations.

Coverage was created by Alaska Department of Natural Resources (ADNR) and USGS personnel using USGS 1:2,000,000 digital line graphs (DLG) datasets. Techniques are described by Domaratz and others (1982). Only those polygons representing lakes having an area greater than 20 acres were kept.
