Kusiq: An Eskimo Life History from the Arctic Coast of Alaska

Bodfish Sr., Waldo. (1991). Kusiq: An Eskimo Life History from the Arctic Coast of Alaska (W. Schneider, L. K. Okakok & J. M. Nageak Eds.). Fairbanks, AK: University of Alaska Press.

This book, the second in a series of oral biographies published by the University of Alaska Press, is by Waldo Bodfish Sr., an Inupiaq elder from Wainwright, a village on the Arctic Coast of Alaska. Bodfish was asked to share his life story because it is important to our understanding of North Slope history and culture. He possesses the qualities necessary to produce an oral biography: he is a good observer with a keen interest in people, and he has an excellent memory for detail. Perhaps most important, he has a strong appreciation for the importance of his experiences.
