Monitoring change: Mendenhall Glacier watershed-lake expansion, terminus retreat, Jokulhlaup frequency increases

Since 1998, the Mendenhall Glacier group in the ENVS Program at UAS begun by Dr. Roman Motyka UAS has annually measured glacier mass balance, terminus position and pro-glacial lake volume of the Mendenhall Glacier system. Since 2010 buoy strings of temperature sensors have captured temperature profiles from surface to lake bottom and recorded meltwater discharges from the glacier base during flood events.
