County

A county is the first-order subdivisions of each State and statistically equivalent entity, regardless of the local terminology (county, parish, borough, etc.). First-order subdivisions of the States include the parishes of Louisiana; the boroughs and census areas of Alaska; the independent cities of Maryland, Missouri, Nevada, and Virginia; and the portion of Yellowstone National Park in Montana.
