We are describing and mapping ecosystems, alliances and plant associations that are rare or of conservation concern in Alaska. This is part of a larger effort by the network of U.S. Natural Heritage Programs and Canadian Provincial Conservation Data Centres to identify ecosystems and plant associations of conservation concern. The results help managers determine which ecosystems, alliances and plant associations may be most in need of attention, and can also help focus future surveys or monitoring.
